Vaughn Bay

A beach house that reflects the clients Scandinavian heritage, love of art and investment in family.

This is a dream project with a unique set of criteria. When the couple acquired the lot next door it enabled them to add on to the current home and create the space with a master bedroom taking in the incredible views. The design challenge was to make the two lots a cohesive space. There were old concrete retaining walls that needed to get a new look, as well as finding a balance in elevations. A boardwalk was designed to flow through the view areas, under the sky bridge to bring old and new together. Native plantings were introduced as well as dunes and driftwood. A cobbled stone path flows through the dunes with space designated to their art collection. A new granite stone step entrance was designed to replace an informal path.
